Natural Farming Network (NFN) is a
local non-governmental organization that seeks to promote sustainable
agriculture and prudent use of the environment. NFN has been in existence since
1992 and has been involved in livelihoods and sustainable agriculture
programming in various districts around the country. Of late NFN has been
participating in DFID funded Protracted Relief Programme (PRP) as an
implementing partner to the Catholic Relief Services. Under the programme NFN
is operating in three Districts of Manicaland (Buhera, Chimanimani, and
Chipinge). The programme is being implemented in the drier parts of these three
Districts. These areas are prone to droughts and flooding. Maximum temperatures
in these areas are upward of 38℃ and an annual rainfall averages
300mm. The areas consequently experience high to very high food insecurity.
